wednesday morning since 2006, the international alliance of research universities has been led by prof ian chubb, vice-chancellor of the anu. today marks a new beginning and it surprised me a little bit (in a good way) when i read that the president of the nus, prof tan chorh chuan, was voted by the alliance to be its new chair. how's that for nationalistic pride?

speaking of which, changi airport's now ranked 3rd in the world. seems so long a go when they were ranked 1st. oddly, it's been 2 years since they relinquished top spot. hah. why am i not surprised?
