perspectives.

thursday night you never look at things from another perspective until you've not seen/used/talked to or thought about it. you start to appreciate everything, respect people and accept things as they happen. the same goes for people. you'll never appreciate them enough until you've lost them. in my case, love and then lost them while they were yours. unlike in the movies, great comebacks and making up for lost time and apologising to bring things back to where they were, hardly ever happens. those are what makes romance movies nice to watch. those are what makes movies moving to the audience. they touch the heart because everyone can relate to the characters. but one will almost never experience what is seen in the movies. having said that, we all have our hopes and prayers so who knows? things change in time. yellowcard's "empty apartment" and sr71's "empty spaces" says it all.. it's mentally straining. but life goes on and so must i..even if it hurts.

we are all. mohawk 3. mohawk company...

thursday sing the abovementioned title in the "mickey mouse song" tune and you have the platoon's unofficial song. training's been good. had IPPT categorization test. did pretty good except for my bloody standing broad jump. well on my way to getting silver or even gold if the improvements keep up. i'm running close to 10 minutes flat for 2.4. hope to get it to around 9min 40 to get that gold.

anyway.. highlights of the week:

4km route march with FBO (full-battle order)
IPPT cat test
appointed platoon in-charge for drawing of arms
rifle presentation ceremony
1st official book-out.. on a thursday too

route march was nothing. i mean NOTHING. it's only tiring because of the weight of the FBO. but that's all to it. once you're used to the weight it'll be all ok. and most of it is mental anyway. just have to push yourself. platoon 3's doing pretty alright. section 1's fucked. too slack. hope to rectify that when we book in.. army. what a place. suddenly it all feels like an extended training camp of sorts. consequences are far worse than anyone can expect, death hangs above everyone's heads waiting to strike if and when a silly asswipe makes a fatal error. rifles and bullets. not to be trifled with, even if it's empty. some people just don't get it.

mohawk company...

thursday night mohawk company. platoon 3. section 1.

2nd toughest in BMTC (behind Ninja). best platoon in the coy. slackest section in the platoon. life's good thus far. hahaha. tough yet it feels good. the effects of 100 push-ups a day and 150 sit-ups a day are paying off. nice looking abs and toned muscles. got a good tan too. finally. and it's been only one week. whoever said physical training phase was bad? hah! i'm lucky to have a good bunch of section commanders and a damn power-packed platoon commander one of whom was in st gabs. so it's all good..

the first army song i've learnt so far:

training to be soliers, fight for our land
once in our life, two years of our time
have you ever wondered, why must we serve?
because we love our land
and we want it to be free, to be free

stand up, be on your guard
come on everybody, do your part
come on soldier, heard and soul
do it for our nation, do it for singapore, yah!

looking all around us, people everywhere
children having fun, while we are holding guns
have you ever wondered, why must we serve?
because we love our land
and we want it to be free, to be free

a new phase in life

thursday morning in 8 hours and 40 minutes i'll be going through the phase that every male singaporean has to one time or another in his life: national service. i've said it many times before and i'll say it again. i'm looking forward to it and i can't wait for it to get started. that said, i'm very sure i'll take back my words on occassions when i feel i may not be able to take it. with that, i'm sure with God's grace i'll pull through just fine. officer cadet school. alot of what i do in future rests on my ability to get into ocs and become an officer. so in due course everything will be settled..

so now. i'm all packed and ready to go. and as my msn nick says:
cheap casio watches and black spectacles. we all look the same.

come graduation day. the changes in all of us will be seen, however slight. can't wait to get behind a camera and start snapping away. haha! should be great.. so a new chapter in this book of mine. a new phase in life. i wonder how things will turn out..

06-06-06. wow.

tuesday morning got back from shuren's birthday dinner/movie outing about 2 hours ago. dinner was at spaggedies (spelling? hah.) at paragon. memories memories. still remember the seat she sat in.. ANYWAY. watched the omen at 1215. i hate movies that talk about the end of the world, specifically, those that quote biblical text and has the church (somehow it's always the catholic church) involved in one way or another.

met up with jill em and sonia in the afternoon for coffee and stuff. so while waiting for the "defaults" to meet up at 6.15 at paragon, i went to wisma to pick up presents for shuren and my sis. went to starbucks for coffee and to read my book when i bumped into a church friend. so it was great. a nice chat and some eye candies. haha..

so after dinner, headed to starbucks (again) to wait out the 3 hour plus that we had to wait. and again! met another friend, this time it was gillian from nus. spunky girl with a great sense of humor. but didn't talk much with her though. so yup. was great to just sit around and chill over coffee before watching a suspiciously anti-climatic horror movie..

so with national service just around the corner (2 days to be exact).. here's how it's shaping up for the egarage guys:

thursday - me ivan milton
friday - ben
saturday - shaun
tuesday - tianci (police..)
july 7th - shuren (no world cup finals!)
sept/oct- sangar (deferred because of world skills. hahahaha)

heard zhiwei's POP from police bmt was postponed till national day.. weird.. anyhows, can't wait to get in yet the apprehension of going seems to linger. am i excited? sure i am. do i have a positive attitude? definitely! so what's wrong? i have no idea.. haha. oh well. 2 years. it'll be over and done with in a flash.. or so i hope. i'll bet my ns friends will beg to differ..

anyway. check this out for something worth reading about 060606

3Fs

sunday played my last game of floorball for quite a while, possibly two months or so. scored 2 against RP. funnily, i've been scoring consistently only when the league ended. shyt!

really nothing much to write about now. been meeting up with people, more recently emily jill and dennis yesterday. emily and maybe jill tomorrow for lunch before heading to paragon in the evening to celebrate shuren's birthday. tuesday probably with anne then dennis (to collect my money!) and wednesday would be home. just to sleep in and chill in the aircon.. hah!

wonder what NS would be like.. so! thursday morning, 9am..
