the tournament that never was..
saturday morning the week in wollongong was one that brought out the best and worse sides of me. i have never lost my temper on court until last week. it's one thing to play to win, another to play to enjoy. it's nice to go out there with a minimalistic mindset of wanting to enjoy a game. but tell me, what joy is there in losing a game 10-1 and 11-1? what ever happened to personal pride?
secondly, i get very annoyed when people who do not know how to play the game, try to talk as if they know every nuance of it. by which i mean, people who try to dictate tactics, people can't play yet want to pretend they can. it pisses me off.
i was also fcuking pissed with two particular referees who were downright biased. i get fouled five times consecutively down the boards, shielding the ball from a defender. i nudge my way out and i get called for a foul. what the hell? i get slashed five times, it's not a foul. i nudge the opponent out of my way and i get called for a foul? and then of course there were all the fouls that never was, the body checks that were to be straight 2- or 5-minute penalties but were not called by the referee(s). i hate unprofessional referees, especially those who don't know the rules properly.
on the upside, i played some of my better floorball here in australia. four man-of-the-match awards and in the all-star team. not the berbatov-esq style of play i wanted to but oh well. i only hope the preparations for the next tournament are better, with an improvement in technical and tactical training. in all honesty, i think i'm hoping against hope.
